Course Info
This is the first course in the Kanban Management Professional Series through Lean Kanban University.
This class is for those who take responsibility for improving the delivery of products and services to customers of their professional service businesses. First and second line managers, project managers, product managers, experienced individual contributors, and technical experts, scrum masters, business unit leaders, C-level executives, their improvement coaches and consultants.
We cover kanban in action, including key elements of kanban systems, such as commitment points, work item types, classes of service, explicit policies, and cadences
We review various kanban board options and ticket features and how those choices can affect worker behavior
We practice with a gameboard simulation of work completed within a kanban system.
About Your Trainer
Melinda Solomon is the president of Middlegrass Consulting. She is training professional who has created educational programs catering to diverse international audiences in a variety of industries including pharmaceuticals, biotech, and government. She has worked with organizational transformations to implement lean principles and agile methodologies in highly regulated environments. She has designed and delivered training in more than 30 countries in support of dozens of federal agencies.
She has led the USCIS Agile Training Program for 5 years and has taught Agile classes to over 3000 students and specializes in communicating about responsible agile transformation. She holds a Masters degree in International Education, CSM, PMP, Accredited Kanban Trainer and was a Fulbright Fellow for the State Dept.
Class Logistics
The class will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 1751 Pinnacle Dr , Mclean, Virginia, 22102. Free parking is available. The registration cost for this two-day course is inclusive of all taxes and certification fees. Payment can be made online via credit card or you may request that Middlegrass invoice you if you have an existing billing arrangement.
Food
A continental breakfast and a full lunch will be provided for each day of class. A food allergy and restrictions survey will be distributed prior to the event to help us determine a menu that is safe and appealing to all attendees.
Cancellation Policy
Students submitting cancellation requests 7 business days or more prior to the start of the course are entitled to a full refund. Students submitting cancellation requests less than 7 business days prior to the start of the course will be issued a credit toward a future Agile on the Weekend training course. The credit will be equal to the amount paid for the initial course less any applicable fees. Should the organizer cancel the course for any reason, each registered student will be refunded 100% of the registration cost they paid.

There is free visitor parking in front of the building. The location is about three blocks and walkable from the Greensboro Metro station.
